Fernando Ascani
Mixer
After a stint at Five Towns College on Long Island, Fernando went on to assist at various recording studios around New York City. An aficionado of hip-hop, he worked with such early 90's hip-hop pioneers as KRS-One, Grand Puba and Big Daddy Kane (just to name a few). Looking to expand his repertoire, Fernando began an entry-level position at hsr in 1994 and after moving up the ranks, now occupies studio 13 and was a part of the 2008 Grand Clio & Cannes Lion Award-winning team behind the Halo 3 launch campaign for Xbox. From TV to radio to ADR to whatever can be recorded, he's always up for a challenge.
While he has made quite a name for himself as a studio engineer at hsr, Fernando still has a foot in the music community. Some of his passion projects have included involvement with the start-up of Fader magazine, recording, producing and mixing an online radio show to help promote Nike's affiliation with the 2006 World Cup, assisting in the creation of a soccer social networking site which claims more that 1,000,000 members and partnering to create the monthly promotional mix CD Cornerstone Mixtape which quickly earned the reputation as "the music industry's mixtape," boasting such DJs as DJ Premier, DJ AM, Mark Ronson and Green Lantern.

If you've learned nothing else from reading this bio, it's that you should book studio time with Fernando. You can guarantee great mixing, and maybe a story or two about the golden age of hip-hop. It'll be the best decision you've made since calling your Nana. So Book Fernando, then call Nana.
